Why is the TBU401 not compatible with Samsung 970 EVO plus? What happens if I use this combination?

I bought a TBU401 last year. I like it, especially that it works on a TB or USB-C connection. But I cannot find any specs for what max speed it supports as a USB drive (not TB).
All I really want to know is if it supports 20Gbps transfer.
I guess that means it would have to support 3.2 2×2 (20Gbps)?
or 3.1 gen 2 2×2?
(ridiculous naming)
If only 10Gbps, then fine, but can you state whether it is 3.1 1×2 (10Gbps),
or 3.1 g2 2×1 (10Gbps), or what exactly?
Thank you…
